Is WWE NXT Superstar Io Shirai denying the recent reports about her current contract status with the company? It would certainly seem that way.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer offered an update on Io Shirai’s WWE status, stating that the former NXT Women’s Champion is “pretty much gone.” Meltzer previously reported Shirai’s contract would be up soon, and now said that “Io Shirai’s pretty much got her foot out of the door.”
Regarding these latest rumors, it appears that Io Shirai has taken to social media to respond to them.
“Rumors *face vomiting emoji*,” Io Shirai said in a tweet.
Shirai’s response certainly creates more questions than answers. Is she referring to Meltzer’s report? Or is it something else entirely? We’ll likely find out soon enough, as her current WWE contract is reportedly set to expire at some point in August.
The Genius of the Sky has been a staple of the NXT Women’s division in recent years but hasn’t been on NXT 2.0 since she suffered an injury at NXT Stand & Deliver.
