Kazuchika Okada Makes AEW Debut On 6/22 Dynamite, IWGP Heavyweight Title Match Set For Forbidden Door

Kazuchika Okada made an impact on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite.

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured Hangman Page taking on former Ring Of Honor star Silas Young, and Adam Cole joined commentary for the match. After Hangman picked up the win, Cole tried to cut a “Story Time” promo, but IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White cut him off because he had something to say. White said he wouldn’t be defending his title at Forbidden Door against Cole… then also told Hangman that it wouldn’t be him.

Hangman took a swing at White and they started fighting, and Cole got involved by hitting a low blow on Hangman during his Buckshot Lariat attempt. Cole went to hit Hangman, who was held up by White, with the title, but Kazuchika Okada came to the ring and chased them off.

Shortly after Okada’s appearance, All Elite Wrestling confirmed White would defend his IWGP Heavyweight Championship in a four-way match against Okada, Page and Cole. Forbidden Door will mark just the second time that Kazuchika Okada has competed in Chicago; the other match was a tag match where he teamed with Moose against Hiroshi Tanahashi & Michael Elgin at ROH/NJPW Global Wars 2016.

Okada recently competed in the United States, working a tag team match at May’s Capital Collision in Washington D.C.; he also made a stateside appearance against Buddy Matthews at NJPW Battle In The Valley in November 2021.
