Vince McMahon will be appearing on this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, but what will that entail?
According to a new press release from WWE, Vince McMahon (addressed as “Mr. McMahon”) will appear on tonight’s show emanating from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The single-sentence announcement reads:
WWE (NYSE: WWE) today announced that Mr. McMahon will appear on SmackDown tonight at 8 pm ET live on FOX.
Roman Reigns vs. Riddle in an Undisputed Universal Championship match is also being advertised for this week’s show; Max Dupri will also present his first Maximum Male Models client.
The appearance by “Mr. McMahon” comes hours after it was announced that Vince McMahon would be voluntarily stepping down as WWE CEO, and Stephanie McMahon would return to the company as acting CEO and Chairwoman.
Vince McMahon is being investigated by the WWE board for his alleged role in entering a million-dollar “hush pact” with a former employee over an affair they had. According to the report, the board learned about the agreement through a series of anonymous emails. It’s been alleged that McMahon doubled the woman’s salary after he entered a sexual relationship with her, and later paid her to remain quiet about the relationship. The nondisclosure agreement is said to have been paid $1 million upfront, with the remaining $2 million being paid out over five years.
