Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Championship at WWE NXT The Great American Bash.
On the June 14 episode of WWE NXT 2.0, Breakker defeated Duke Hudson to successfully defend the title. After his dominant performance, Cameron Grimes came to the ring. Earlier in the show, he had given Breakker the cold shoulder when the champion tried to tell him that he knows what it feels like to lose a title; Grimes lost the NXT North American Championship to Carmelo Hayes at NXT In Your House.
The former champion confronted Breakker and told him that his last name is the reason he has the title. He made it clear that he respects Breakker, but the powerhouse had an easier ride because his father is Rick Steiner. Speaking of fathers, Grimes said that everyone knows who Breakker’s father is, but nobody knows who his own daddy is. He passionately pointed out that Breakker’s father was at ringside to watch him win his title, Papa Grimes had to watch “from above” because he passed away.
Grimes then challenged Breakker to a title match at NXT: The Great American Bash, and the champion accepted.
