Taryn Terrell explained what made her decide to end her hiatus and come back to professional wrestling.
Taryn Terrell recently sat down with Scott Fishman of Pro Wrestling Illustrated to discuss a wide variety of topics, including her return to wrestling. Terrell worked with IMPACT between 2012-2016, but she ultimately left the company and the business altogether the following year.
When asked about what brought her back to the wrestling industry last year, Terrell revealed working with Corgan in IMPACT previously made her interested in doing something with the National Wrestling Alliance.
“I think it was fun because I have worked with Billy Corgan before at IMPACT, and he was there while I was doing The Dollhouse,” Taryn Terrell said. “So I had kind of gotten to know him. I had met him a very, very long time ago with Nattie Neidhart. We had gone to a Smashing Pumpkins concert, and so she was friends with him. So hearing that he had taken and bought this company, which obviously has so much history, was such a cool and unique opportunity that I was like, you know what, how fun would that be to be a part of?
“So I ended up getting a call a couple of months, probably before I started there. And I wasn’t sure if it was going to be something long-term or just sort of an appearance. They didn’t really explain that to me. And so I was like, alright, let’s go and see what it’s about. And I’ll tell you what, after that weekend, I was on cloud nine because it was the first time that I could say — well, now it took me a second. It took me a whole night because they put me on commentary on the first night, and I was like, gosh, do I know who I am as a wrestler and as an entertainer still, because it’s been a while, do I remember how to do this?
“And it was the next day I’m sort of like oh, okay, got it. It took me 24 hours to be like, shoot, can I still do this? But it was so fun. And part of the thing that to me I love is that anytime you get to go and be a part of a wrestling roster, you see so many people that you haven’t seen in 10, 15 years. It’s just like everything picks up where you left off. You’re like, oh my gosh, we were at FCW together training in 2007 or whatever. 2008 It’s just so cool. And then I don’t know; it’s just special. And the thing with NWA is a lot of people that are there have been everywhere. They’ve wrestled everywhere. And they’ve really honed in on who they are as a character and who they are as a wrestler. And I just think that we get the opportunity to create things on our own, which I’ve never had that opportunity before. I mean, I’ve had amazing opportunities, and I’ve loved them. But you really get to go out there and take chances.”
Taryn Terrell made a one-time appearance for IMPACT in 2017 before she mutually parted ways with the company, and did not make any on-air appearances until she was featured on the IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Roundtable discussion panel in January 2021. Just a few months later, she joined the NWA as a commentator at the company’s “Back For The Attack” event.
