Jade Cargill wants to continue building her resume and cross over into new areas as a female athlete.
During her Double Or Nothing post-show media scrum, Jade Cargill was asked by WrestleZone’s Dominic DeAngelo about how she could get more mainstream attention and help AEW’s women get in front of a new audience.
“I feel like that’s what I’m here for. I want to reach a whole other demographic that we don’t have in wrestling right now. I want to be the person where the wrestling fan is watching right now, but their friend that doesn’t care about wrestling at all is watching and [want them to say] ‘damn, who is that? Let me watch that.’ And then they pull their friend into it. I’m here to reach a different demographic that we don’t have. To be that crossover and reach that fashion designer or the makeup artist, or to reach that person in Croatia or whatever it is, that’s what I’m here for. I’m here to reach your girlfriend that’s not into wrestling, that’s what I’m here for. I love fashion, I love sports in general. There’s so many different levels to who I am.”
Tony Khan went on to note that he’s seen Jade’s ability to draw first-hand, noting that she’s been pulled aside at NBA and hockey games. Khan said that’s what they want from talent and it’s happened many times since she’s been TBS Champion.
As a follow-up, Denise Salcedo asked if she had any areas she’d like to branch into and how it could also help the AEW women’s roster. Jade said that she has her own dreams of being more involved in fashion and fitness, but noted that there’s plenty they can do because they are talented enough to do it.
“Just putting us on — for example, I love Sports Illustrated. I want to be on ‘The Body Issue’ so freaking bad, and I can say that because I put so much hard work into my fitness and just my regimen and keeping myself together for you guys. Because the day that I gain 30 pounds, I’m sure I’m going to get butchered out here, so I want to see us just crossing over into fashion, magazines and doing catwalks. I would love to walk for Fenti. That catwalk, I want to do it so bad with this beautiful, luxurious belt. There’s so many things we could do,” Jade said. “We’re powerful, strong women. Title IX just crossed, stuff with the women’s soccer team [earning equal pay]… it’s just going to elevate women’s sports in general.”
