AEW Double or Nothing will return to Las Vegas on Sunday night, and Powerhouse Hobbs says everyone should go all in with the prediction that he and Ricky Starks will win the gold at the show.
The duo will challenge for the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a three-way bout; their opponents will be the champions, Jurassic Express, and another contending team, Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee. The Team Taz pairing previously defeated Strickland and Lee, while Starks has picked up singles victories against Jungle Boy and Swerve. For these reasons, Hobbs is feeling quite confident ahead of the title match.
In an interview with Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN News, the powerhouse previewed the bout and noted the aforementioned results. He also praised his opponents before he pointed out that it’s been a long time since he and Starks have lost a tag team bout.
“You got three great teams in there,” Hobbs said. “Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are the Tag Team Champions for a reason. Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland are in the match for a reason. Ricky Starks and I are in the match for a reason. Now here. Here’s a stat. We have not lost a tag team match together since December 2, 2020. So it’s been 541 days since we lost a tag team match together.
“We already beat Swerve and Keith. Ricky’s already beat Jungle Boy and Swerve. You can throw Luchsaurus in the mix. Is that going to help? I don’t think so. But you look at stats and put it on paper, and if you’re a betting man, you see that Ricky Starks and I are the absolute favorites to win this match and walk out the new AEW World Tag Team Champions.”
