Ruby Soho: I’m A Huge, Huge Fan Of Toni Storm, She’s On My Wrestling Bucket List

Ruby Soho looks to surprise people in the squared circle and with her playlist.

During a new interview with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard, Ruby Soho promoted her appearance on the new season of Carpool Karaoke: The Series on Apple TV+. Ruby is paired with MJF and Powerhouse Hobbs, while the other car full of AEW talent features CM Punk, Brian Danielson, Britt Baker and Christian Cage.

Ruby Soho took her name from the Rancid song of the same name, so some fans might expect her to have a punk-filled playlist in the car. Asked what unexpected or “deep-cut” tunes she’s been into, Ruby said she’s been into Motown lately, and does put on some musical theater numbers from time to time.

“So I’m all over the place with my solo carpool karaoke [picks]. It really honestly depends on, on what kind of mood I’m in. I can listen to …And Out Come The Wolves top to bottom and be a happy girl. But also at the same time, I used to do a lot of musical theater, so I will put on some songs that I sang in musicals in the past. I’ve been very, very, very, very into Motown a lot recently, so I think that’d probably be a surprise to a lot of people. I love The Temptations and Louis Armstrong and “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” is one of my favorite songs to just like to jam out to, because it just always makes me happy. So you know, it honestly it all depends,” Ruby said. “If you get in a car with me, it’s just going to be real confusing because I’m going to be all over the place.

Toni Storm recently appeared on AEW’s Unrestricted podcast and said she had great in-ring chemistry with Ruby, who she’d just worked a tag team match with. While Storm wasn’t sure how she’d explain what made them click, Ruby was asked if she could put it into words and share why they worked so well together.

“I think that her and I view wrestling in a very similar way. I think we both have been on very similar journeys in our careers from the indies and going forward. I think that Toni and I in a lot of ways are a lot alike, which was why I felt like we were a great tag team and I’m very particular about my tag partners. While I’ve had quite a few in AEW,” Ruby noted, “she was one that I really felt like I clicked with.”

Ruby highlighted the possibility that they could also make good opponents (which was still a possibility in the Owen tournament at the time of recording).

“Sometimes your best partners make the best opponents, which we obviously very recently saw with FTR. So because they know you so well, they can really take you to that next level. So the possibility of ideally trying to beat Kris Statlander and potentially if [Toni] manages to hopefully beat the crap out of Britt Baker,” Ruby explained, “the possibility of us being against each other in this tournament is definitely something that has crossed my mind on several occasions.

“I’ve been a huge fan, huge fan of Toni Storm and she’s been on my bucket list to wrestle for quite some time. So I adore that girl with everything I have. She’s a wonderful person and I’m a huge fan of her work,” she noted, “and I think that our similarities could potentially make us some some really, really formidable opponents.

The new season of Carpool Karaoke: The Series is now available on Apple TV+. Ruby will also face off against Kris Statlander on the May 27 episode of AEW Rampage in an Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament semifinals match; the winner will move on to face Britt Baker D.M.D. at AEW Double Or Nothing on Sunday, May 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
