Back in March, Mick Foley teased the launch of his new podcast, Foley is Pod. Today we finally got more information.
This morning it was announced that Foley is Pod will launch on June 3 via The Podcast Heat network and will be the latest pro wrestling podcast to feature Conrad Thompson alongside a WWE Hall of Famer.
When asked by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated about why he’s getting into the podcast game, Mick Foley provided an answer that makes a lot of sense. He just wants to brighten people’s day.
“I know the way I feel when I hear a good podcast, how it can turn a whole day around and put a smile on my face,” Mick Foley said. “I’m looking forward to telling stories and reminding people of a time they really enjoyed when they were big wrestling fans.”
Conrad Thompson has recorded podcasts alongside some of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling. But he believes that Foley’s passion for professional wrestling and the thought process that goes into things will set this podcast apart from others that he’s done.
“Mick is just so passionate about pro wrestling,” Conrad Thompson said. “And look at his career. He proved he could do it all—whether that was as a heel, the ultimate babyface, or a comedic character. He did it all so incredibly well. And I’m really interested about Mick’s thought process. His books were so good, and so are his one-man shows. I really believe that this show, which we’re recording in-person and in 4K, is going to be exactly what the wrestling world is looking for.”
According to the New York Post, Foley is Pod already has 13 episodes recorded and revealed that Mick Foley will continue to travel in order to do these shows live with Conrad Thompson in the same room instead of over Zoom or other recording platforms. Foley believes the natural chemistry he has with Thompson in person is something his fans will appreciate.
“It’s been a really natural chemistry and something I enjoy very much,” Mick Foley said. “Especially for those people who are in-depth fans who choose to get the video in addition to the audio, they will see the smile on my face is very genuine and it’s very obvious that I enjoy doing the podcast.”
