The latest episode of “Being The Elite” may have gotten a little too extreme for the Young Bucks. To close out episode 307 of BTE, Nick and Matt Jackson were approached by the Hardys. Matt Hardy told the Bucks that if they were going to confront them, they better do something, but the AEW EVPs didn’t. At Dynamite, they just stood on stage during Jeff Hardy’s main event match against Darby Allin on Dynamite. Why didn’t they take a shot, asked Matt Hardy.
“Guys, we’re actually cooler than you now,” Matt Jackson said. “Those guys that we used to watch on tape, those guys were great, but somewhere along the way we kind of surpassed you a little bit.”
Matt Hardy couldn’t be fooled. “I can see you’re speaking very condescendingly,” he said. The Bucks noted that they’re now in their prime while the Hardys are past theirs, something that Matt & Jeff didn’t shy from.
“You guys are in your prime and you are the reason we are here in AEW right now,” Matt Hardy stated. He noted all the similariites that the Bucks shared with the Hardys, being raised as good Christian boys with good family values.
“Good kids. Good human beings. That’s kind of what you built a career off of. Don’t do drugs, you don’t drink, you don’t mess around with your wife. You’re family men. That’s exactly who we were when we started in this industry 30 years ago.” Matt mentions the passing of his and Jeff’s mom from cancer and talks about how she taught them to be like that.
“There’s a soft spot in our hearts for you because of that, but I don’t think you understand,” Matt Hardy said. “It was the wild wild west then. It was a different day. They hazed you, we went through these things you guys could never, ever survive.
“We’re survivors. We lived. I don’t think the two of you would’ve made it,” Matt Hardy later added, before exclaiming how bad they wanted to mix it up with The Bucks.
“So yeah we definitely want this match and even though he’s beat up, we threatened you last week,why don’t you go ahead and punch us right now?” Both Matt and Jeff Hardy lean in for Nick and Matt Jackson to take the first shot, but instead the EVP brothers just walk away. Matt is pumping with adrenaline as Jeff notes how close they got to a throwdown with them.
