Nyla Rose has Vickie Guerrero in her corner, but the influence goes beyond having an on-air relationship.
During an appearance on the Battleground podcast, Nyla Rose put over her relationship with Vickie Guerrero and talked about just how much Guerrero has helped her in All Elite Wrestling.
“It brings a lot. We all know Vickie Guerrero. She’s not a “who’s that?” She’s legendary in this business, a legendary mind for this business. So having her in my corner, on my side, being able to pick her brain at the drop of a dime, I can text her and ask her, she’s right there for me. She’s got my back,” Nyla explained, “someone I definitely can trust, pick their brain, super knowledgeable. It’s a difference-maker.”
Nyla then named Vickie as one of the people who really doesn’t get the credit they should, noting how she’s very accessible and even referred to her as the MVP and a “road mom.”
“Honestly it’s Vickie. It’s Vickie Guerrero. I’m not gonna peel the curtain back too much, but Vickie is a huge, huge asset backstage, helping some of the younger talent with their promos, just putting herself out there, being a part of it. Here she is, she’s not necessarily an in-ring talent per se but she’s right there with us at practice,” Nyla said. “She’s watching us, giving us feedback. She’s helping out with promos, helping people out with merch ideas, helping as far as setting up the locker [room]. She is just such a huge asset, kinda like road mom, if you will.
“Selfishly I just love having somebody who’s down to ride. She’s my ride or die. I’ll throw out the craziest thing and I’m like, ‘hey what if we just sneak up on so-and-so tonight’ and she’s like ‘yeah let’s go do it.’ You know, ‘should I wear a clown mask, like you want me to go distract them?’ And I’m like ‘hell yeah.’ Very little coaxing,” Nyla noted. “I almost have to talk her out of things at some point. Definitely had influences on one another.”
Nyla went on to say that she clicked with Vickie from the moment they met, referring to it as a match made in heaven.
“We just gelled. Some things just go together. You got chocolate with peanut butter, you got peanut butter with chocolate, that’s exactly what it was. We did her Excuse Me! podcast, a live version of that [on the Chris Jericho cruise], and we just meshed. And we threw it out there back and forth, like I’d love to work with you, oh my god I’d be honored to work with you,” Nyla said. “And we went to management and it was like hey I got an idea. And they liked it.”
