Charlotte Flair On Ric Flair And Andrade’s WWE Departures: It Was Difficult At First, But I Want Them To Be Happy

Charlotte Flair reveals it’s a bit lonely at the top of WWE as The Queen without her two favorite people with her.

SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair recently sat down with Ariel Helwani of WWE on BT Sport to discuss a wide variety of subjects. When asked about her dad, “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair, departing the company last summer, Flair said she just wants her dad to be happy, and despite what the fans think, she wasn’t caught in between the crossfire of his release.

“No, I think the fans thought I was caught in between,” Charlotte Flair admitted. “I just want my dad to be happy. He’s worked his whole life. Go do you, just don’t mention my name. [laughs] I mean, I don’t want his opinion. Like he can talk about me, but just dad, not all the time.”

When asked how she felt when her fiance, Andrade El Idolo, departed and signed with All Elite Wrestling, Flair got emotional and spoke about how difficult it was at first to be there alone without him.

“Umm, a little difficult at first because I was like, my two best friends are gone,” Charlotte Flair said. “But now I’m just like used to Oh; you’re gonna make me upset [gets emotional] hold on. Okay, sorry I got upset. No, like it sucked because they’re my people. Like they would do anything for me, you know, go to bat. But Manny [Andrade] had to make career decisions, and seeing him do so well is so important. And my dad comes and goes comes and goes like, that wasn’t as hard. It’s hard to see the couples in the back get to have that time together. And I would do anything to have that with Manny because that’s how we met was on the road.

“But him being happy to me is like what’s important, and he knows how much this means to me. It’s just making the schedules work, and we’ll do anything to make it work. It’s just I don’t have that ride or die from town to town. But before Manny, I was doing it with Becky. So yeah, I’m only emotional because it’s WrestleMania week. But he’s coming with me to the Hall of Fame.”

Charlotte also spoke about why she doesn’t really like playing a babyface role in WWE, as she feels like it doesn’t come off as being authentic. Read more about how she feels more comfortable as a heel at this link.
