Kevin Owens: I’d Like To Have A Backstage Role Or Do Commentary When I Can’t Wrestle Anymore

Kevin Owens has enjoyed plenty of success as a WWE star, and even when he can’t wrestle anymore, he wants to keep helping the company.

For the past few months, Owens has been featured on WWE RAW, and he recently signed a lucrative contract extension, so he’ll remain a member of the roster for the foreseeable future. As someone who has thrived in the spotlight, he wants to give back to the next generation.

During an appearance on  The MackMania podcast, Owens explained that he wants to help other wrestlers excel, so he’d like to take a backstage role or do some work as a commentator in the future. He made it clear that he enjoys giving people advice and seeing it put to good use.

“I signed a new contract so I’ll be here for a little while doing this” said Owens. “And once that contract’s done, I really don’t see myself not being in the ring for many, many more years. But I really enjoy the other side of it, where I enjoy watching other people do well. And if, you know, when I’m in the locker room and some other people come up to me for advice, I enjoy giving it to them and I enjoy seeing them put it in practice and if it works for them, that’s a great feeling. And I’ve just really taken to seeing other people do well. So I think I get as much satisfaction out of that, if not more, honestly, than when I’m [wrestling].

“But I feel like I’ve had an amazing career so when I see other people do well, that fulfills me in a different way. So ultimately once I’m not in the ring actively anymore, I really think I’ll hopefully have a role backstage somehow or even maybe do commentary. Those are all things I really enjoy. So I don’t see myself going anywhere and hopefully I can help people that are here now and people that are here in the future, like others are helping me now.”

Owens also stated that he has plenty left that he wants to accomplish as an in-ring performer, starting with WrestleMania 38, where he’ll host “Stone Cold” Steve Austin on a “stupendous” edition of The KO Show.
