Seth Rollins is going to WWE WrestleMania 38, as Vince McMahon gave him a spot on the show.
For “The Visionary”, meeting with McMahon ended somewhat of a slump, as he lost several matches in his quest to earn his place on the WrestleMania card. For weeks, fans questioned the logic of the storyline in the first place, as it was impossible to believe that Rollins, a former WWE and Universal Champion, would be left off the lineup for the biggest show of the year. As it turns out, this situation didn’t stray too far from reality.
Speaking with Jimmy Traina on the SI Media Podcast, Rollins described how he’s doing his best to make the storyline work by himself, though his opponent for WrestleMania still hasn’t been announced. He acknowledged the narrative that it’s “preposterous” to think that he would miss WrestleMania before he noted that the actual situation was quite close to what fans saw on TV.
“You do what I’ve been doing and you try to make it work,” said Rollins. “So that’s what I’ve done the last few weeks. Try to work my way into WrestleMania. People say this is ridiculous. This is preposterous. You’re Seth Freakin’ Rollins. How could you miss WrestleMania? If you only knew how close to the truth this storyline was, your mind would be blown. This is a very legitimate situation for me.”
Rollins then described how his road to WrestleMania went off the rails as soon as WWE Day 1 at the beginning of the heart, as “all hell broke loose” in the aftermath of Roman Reigns testing positive for COVID-19. WWE had to call an audible, and the subsequent consequences were like dominoes falling and altering the plans. Still, he stated that it’s been a fun story, and he’s looking forward to getting his WrestleMania moment at the end of the day.
“Everything went haywire on Day 1 in Atlanta,” said Rollins. “COVID-19 blew the whole thing up; you see Brock Lesnar walk out with the WWE championship. All hell broke loose, It’s dominoes. Everything just has to fall. Bobby Lashley gets hurt. Everything is chaos after that. So this is a very legitimate situation that has translated to screentime every Monday night and it’s been a fun story, because it’s the only match that’s up in the air and you can follow every week, What’s gonna happen next. What’s gonna happen next. What are these weird crossroads we’re gonna get into to get to the finish line.
“It’s been fun. Not my ideal way to go into WrestleMania. It’s a lot of extra stress, but it’s been a party. And I think we’re gonna get there one way or the other; and I’m excited to get to Dallas. I’m gonna have my WrestleMania moment one way or the other.”
Fans will finally get to see who Rollins is facing at WWE WrestleMania 38 once he’s in the ring on April 2.
