Is Shane McMahon WrestleMania bound or is he just a red herring? According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the son of Vince McMahon is set to be in Dallas for WrestleMania weekend despite being released from the company after Royal Rumble. Plans were reportedly for McMahon to match up against Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38 or perhaps face Austin Theory as a heel, but reports say he was let go after being a difficult presence backstage at the Rumble.
Speculation is that Rollins may be facing a returning Cody Rhodes in Dallas now. Rollins’ presence in Texas was made official by Vince McMahon before the go-home RAW and it was made known that he will have a match against a mystery opponent. WWE is not shy to red herrings at WrestleMania as they pulled a fast one at WrestleMania 33 when they shocked the crowd with a Hardy Boyz return. The initial tease were the hosts, the New Day, but it ultimately ended up being Matt and Jeff as the returning stars.
