Brock Lesnar says he’s not playing a character and the guy fans see on TV right now is authentically him.
Joseph Staszewski of the New York Post recently spoke with Brock Lesnar about his current run, which has seen him wearing flannel and cowboy hats, a stark contrast to the persona he used to show on WWE television.
“This is the real Brock Lesnar,” he said. “I’m a country hillbilly f-ck, and that’s who I’m am. I grew up the same way.’”
Lesnar joked he doesn’t have to change his clothes to come to work anymore, then spoke about how he’s doing things on the fly now and having a lot of fun.
“I can be a funny f-cker,” Lesnar said. “I can be serious. I can be bipolar and change my persona on a flick of a switch, just ask my kids. I can change on a dime. I can be joking with you and then rip your f-cking head off the next second. It’s just the way I am.”
Despite being more playful in some ways, Lesnar said that it’s still a serious role and a “passionate angle” because of all of the history with Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns. In regards to the latter, Lesnar had a great amount of praise for his WrestleMania opponent and said that he’s facing off with a real superstar.
“I see a f-cking superstar,” Lesnar stated. “I see I guy who came into his own and is a real threat as person and as a character. … Roman has the It factor, has had it. It’s exciting to me. I get goosebumps just thinking about this match.”
