If any wrestling talent can pick up on star power, it’s Ric Flair and he knows that anywhere the Hardy Boyz go it is big news. Flair talked about Jeff and Matt Hardy reuniting on the latest episode of Ric Flair Wooooo Nation UNCENSORED, but noted it’s likely Jeff has a strong desire to return to wrestling.
“It’s hard not to do what God meant for us to do,” Flair said. “That’s the hardest part for me, I’m always missing, always thinking all these years later.”
Flair believes the Hardyz going to any promotion is beneficial for that company and that goes for AEW.
“Yes. In my opinion. Anywhere Jeff Hardy goes is a big name,” he said before mentioning Matt in the same light. “They’re the Hardy Boyz.”
Madden mentioned Matt Hardy’s “broken” gimmick to Flair and the Nature Boy spoke of the unique nature of Matt Hardy.
“Matt’s a very innovative guy and very talented. I’m happy for him. Once again, he’s a guy that stepped outside of what people wanted to see and proved everybody wrong. Ultimately, you wanted to see it. Everybody that’s got talent has got a place in this business. And if you’re in the wrestling business you have talent. It’s just a matter of how much and how you get opportunity to get the exposure.”
While Jeff may be entering the AEW fold, one star who’s leaving that got high praise was Cody Rhodes . Flair said earlier in the show that Cody going back to WWE is a good move by him and that’s because he carved his own identity in the business.
“He made himself on his own, then he went to work with AEW, made himself even bigger and why not bring back Cody Rhodes, son of Dusty Rhodes? Huge.”
Flair didn’t have a guess as to why Cody left AEW, but did note he got in touch with the American Nightmare after news broke of him leaving.
“I heard back from him. We texted each other. I just said ‘Be who you are, don’t take any shit from anybody.’ That’s what I told him.”
