WWE Hall Of Famer Snoop Dogg Acquires Death Row Records

Snoop Dogg once sang that Death Row is the label that pays him, but now he owns the famed record company.

Snoop Dogg, a 2016 WWE Hall Of Fame inductee, recently acquired Death Row Records from Blackstone, who announced the move in a statement on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Snoop Dogg commented on the ownership change, calling it an “extremely meaningful moment” for him, as he rose to fame with Death Row in the early 1990s and was signed with the label until 1998.

“I am thrilled and appreciative of the opportunity to acquire the iconic and culturally significant Death Row Records brand, which has immense untapped future value. It feels good to have ownership of the label I was part of at the beginning of my career and as one of the founding members. This is an extremely meaningful moment for me. I would like to personally thank the teams at Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked collaboratively with me over several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality. I’m looking forward to building the next chapter of Death Row Records.”

Snoop has made sporadic appearances on WWE RAW in the past, and more recently made a guest appearance on the January 6, 2021 “New Year’s Smash” episode of AEW Dynamite. The latter appearance was in conjunction with Snoop’s role as a judge on Go-Big Show with Cody Rhodes, and he made headlines for delivering a frog splash to Serpentico before helping Rhodes pick up the win on Dynamite.

Snoop has maintained a working relationship on the WWE side as well, as he collaborated on a line of Undertaker apparel with the company, and most recently contributed to the WWE Champions mobile game.
