The IInspiration reportedly turned down an opportunity to return to WWE.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that WWE offered Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay, formerly known as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay, the chance to compete in the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. But, as the report notes, the duo declined the invitation because they aren’t interested in returning to WWE right now. Ross Sapp also wrote that IMPACT Wrestling would have approved of the involvement of Lee and McKay, and the company has contacted other talent it has released in the past two years.
WWE released Royce and Lee, collectively known as The IIconics, in a cost-cutting move on April 15, 2021. During their time with the company, the duo won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania35. Since then, the two women have found success in IMPACT Wrestling; they won the Knockouts Tag Team Championship in their debut bout at IMPACT Bound For Glory
IMPACT Knockouts World Champion Mickie James, among other legends, will compete in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, and the contest still has several slots that haven’t officially been filled yet.
