AEW Dynamite: Beach Break just got even bigger, as Cody Rhodes challenged Sammy Guevara to a title match and Adam Cole has his sights set on Orange Cassidy.
As confirmed throughout the latest episode of AEW Dynamite, Cole will take on Cassidy in a Lights Out Match. The two superstars have been feuding for some time now, and now they will be able to do whatever it takes in an attempt to destroy each other.
Elsewhere in the night, Cody Rhodes delivered a heated promo when he took shots at WWE NXT and stated that he built the forbidden door. He ended things by challenging Interim TNT Champion Sammy Guevara to a Ladder Match for the AEW TNT Championship, setting the stage for a huge bout.
Rhodes defeated Guevara for the title on the special “Holiday Bash” episode of AEW Rampage on Christmas. The two stars were set for a rematch at AEW Battle of the Belts, but Rhodes was pulled from the card because he wasn’t medically cleared. Guevara subsequently defeated Cody’s brother, Dustin to win the Interim TNT Championship at the show.
Plus, the feud between The Inner Circle and the combination of 2point0 and Daniel Garcia will escalate when Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz battle the latter trio on Wednesday. Santana and Ortiz butted heads with Jericho on the January 19 episode by questioning whether he had ever truly been there for them. Eddie Kingston’s claims that Jericho has held the duo back is clearly testing the strength of the bond between the stablemates and this brewing conflict looms large ahead of Beach Break.
