Danhausen is currently on the shelf with an injury, but he’s one of the most compelling free agents on the open market.
He has one of the most unique personalities in the wrestling world today, and it’s easy to see him shining anywhere, from AEW to WWE and everywhere in between. “The Very Nice, Very Evil One” had been competing frequently for Ring of Honor before the company went on hiatus and opted not to renew the contracts of its talent roster. As he enters the next chapter of his career, Danhausen has one destination in mind, and it’s the home of “Pepsi Man” himself.
In an interview with Graham GSM Matthews of Bleacher Report, Danhausen, in his own distinct way, explained why AEW is the right place for him. He specifically pitched the ideas of working with MJF, facing Cody Rhodes, and joining forces with CM Punk.
“There is a certain place, and I don’t think it’s been a secret, that Danhausen would like to have wrestling matches with lots of people because they are all there,” said Danhausen. “We can try to team with MJF or punch him in the groin if he tries to betray Danhausen.
“Danhausen has unfinished business with Corey [Cody Rhodes] from, like, three years ago. Danhausen needs to team with ‘Pepsi Man’ CM Punk, obviously. He needs to face Adam Page because he’s calling out Danhausen at comic cons in Chicago. There seems to be only one place for Danhausen.”
Danhausen elaborated on the possibility of teaming up with “The Second City Saint” by saying he could be the Sting to Punk’s Darby Allin. He also pointed out that there are plenty of “evil” people in the company, including Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., and noted that they could bond over teeth.
“Danhausen could be CM Punk’s legend like how Darby [Allin] has Sting,” said Allin. “We could do that and give him some advice as to how to take the championship. Danhausen has a lot of good friends there. Orange Cassidy is one of them. The Dark Order seems pretty evil. Britt Baker seems to deal with teeth. Chris Judas, perhaps I can join [Inner Circle]. Santana and Ortiz are looking quite evil nowadays. There’s a whole list of people Danhausen loves at that company. We shall make enemies with them or make friends with them or whatever.”
As for his recovery from his injury, Danhuasen stated that he’ll be doing physical therapy throughout January, but he plans to do his best Terminator impression and come back stronger than ever.
“All of January is taken off to do physical therapy and hopefully getting this muscly leg back to being muscly,” said Danhausen. “It’s going OK. I had my first day of physical therapy [last month] on this robotic leg Danhausen has now and doing easy things are quite hard to do now such as stretches and body weight squats. We shall get there and get even stronger like The Terminator.”
Time will tell what Danhausen’s future holds, but he should have plenty of options, especially once he’s cleared to compete.
