Report: WWE Set To Return To Saudi Arabia In February

If the latest reports are accurate, WWE is heading back to Saudi Arabia next month.

On Thursday afternoon, The Mat Men Podcast’s Andrew Zarian reported that WWE is planning to return to Saudi Arabia for their next big overseas event on Saturday, February 19. “Hearing that WWE is planning on returning to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, February 19th. #WWE #ProWrestling,” Andrew Zarian tweeted.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has backed up this report, adding that this specific date had been set by WWE for months at this point. Sapp also points out at that the Saturday date continues to all in line with the idea of WWE wanting to adjust their Premium Live Event dates to Saturdays in 2022.

The company announced its 2022 pay-per-view schedule in October and announced several confirmed events, also noting that events in February and October 2022 would be announced at a later date. It was speculated that those two months would feature events that fall under the partnership with Saudi Arabia, but WWE has not announced a theme for either event yet.

February 2020 saw WWE Super ShowDown take place in Saudi Arabia, but it remains to be seen if that theme will be used again. WWE did not host a winter event in the country due to travel restrictions in place because of COVID-19, but did host Crown Jewel in October 2021.

The February event will be the seventh under WWE’s deal with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority; the agreement includes two large-scale events to be held in Saudi Arabia every year through 2027.
