WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix stunned audiences when she returned at WWE Day 1 last weekend. Not only did she stand alongside her husband, Edge, but she even arrived with a brand new look.
Appearing on WWE’s The Bump, Beth Phoenix explained the inspiration behind her new hair and new look:
“We just wanted to make sure that it was a look that screamed ‘intimidating’, but also, my husband for many years was on an amazing show called Vikings. He played Kjetill Flatnose and I was just looking to be the Viking biker and you know, just come out and just gave a glamorous Viking look to be able to complement the look of ‘The Rated R Superstar’. I think we’re finding our style together which has been really fun too, working on the entrance together. Again, how do these two very different characters blend and mesh and become a team? I think we’re finding our footing doing that, and it’s been super exciting. I cannot wait for you guys to see what we have in store for Royal Rumble.”
Beth Phoenix is currently slated to team up with Edge at the upcoming Royal Rumble against The Miz and Maryse. Ahead of this match though, Beth also spoke about her recent return and the impact of her and Edge working together:
“So, the biggest thing for me, and this is just from the bottom of my heart, I never wanted to be a detriment to the legacy of Edge. In everything that my husband has done for decades, working so hard and I’m creating this character working with other characters. I never wanted to come in and take away from that, or feel pulled into the situation or anything. So that was my concern: will this take away from the legacy of Edge? Because Adam has earned that with every ounce of his soul, but I think that in this instance, in this little bubble scenario, I think that it’s going to contribute to the greater picture and greater story. It’s really fun, and selfishly for our family, our children–this is the only time our children will get to experience seeing something like this, seeing mom and dad do what we grew up loving, and all we’ve ever wanted to do since we were little kids. We hope to inspire them, not necessarily to get into wrestling, or whatever it is they choose, whatever their ‘wrestling’ is. We hope that they see mom and dad chasing it, giving it our all, and loving it and having fun together as a couple, to encourage them to find whatever it is that their thing is.”
