As of late, Bruce Prichard has been absent backstage at WWE television, but now he’s setting the record straight as to why.
The subject was addressed head-on during the latest episode of Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. Prichard was reportedly missing from WWE TV on December 27, according to a report from PWInsider.com. F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer later reported that Prichard had been sick, but said it was not due to having COVID-19.
Prichard initially called the reports about his absence “complete horseshit” before explaining his time off was a combination of things, which included taking a vacation. Unfortunately, he wound up getting the flu while on vacation, which ended up extending his time off in the process.
“To address some of the rumor and innuendo, which is complete horsesh-t out there in the wrestling media, if you will. This year, I took it (vacation) at a time when we didn’t have two SmackDowns. We pre-recorded, and we had a count show. So there was no TV to go to in general. So I had my vacation tied up during that time where it looked like, ‘Hey, man, Bruce hasn’t been in here in like, oh my god! Three TVs!’ And then I got the flu. I was running a fever and not feeling well. We’ve got a great team and an incredible sports system and team that was there. I missed three TVs.” (H/T: Sportskeeda)
Bruce Prichard is the creative head of both WWE RAW and SmackDown, and that doesn’t look to be changing anytime soon as the road to WrestleMania begins to ramp up heading into the 2022 Royal Rumble.
