Beth Phoenix is more than ready to perform alongside her husband at the Royal Rumble.
WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix was a special guest on the 1/5 edition of WWE’s The Bump and discussed her upcoming match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, where she’ll team with her husband Edge against The Miz and Maryse.
“This is such a huge moment for me career-wise,” Beth admitted. “My husband and I have never done anything together on WWE programming, Day 1 was the first-time. We didn’t even appear together as those two characters as Edge and Beth Phoenix, so I’m just so excited to get and stand side-by-side, obviously we get to work a lot together behind the scenes, we’ve been training together for three years for his in-ring return and all of his big matches. So, this has been so exciting and yeah, I cannot wait to get and experience everything alongside Edge, The Rated-R Superstar.”
When asked why she decided to help Edge at Day 1, Beth explained that while she knows Edge is more than capable of holding his own in any situation, she just wanted to even the odds.
“100 percent. For weeks and weeks and I know that Adam can handle his own with no problem but the issue was that it wasn’t a one-on-one situation, it was two-on-one and Maryse is the sneakiest of the sneaky, I’ve known Maryse since day one, when she started wrestling and was signed after the diva search and before she ever even stepped into a ring. I know what she’s capable of and thats why I wanted to step-in myself, I know Miz and Maryse better then they know themselves and I want to be in Adam’s corner to make sure that this doesn’t happen again.”
