Jimmy Wang Yang says recent reports that he quit his job as a WWE producer are inaccurate.
Back in late October, WWE brought Jimmy Wang Yang into SmackDown for a tryout as a producer backstage at the show. Two months later, he’s no longer with the company. While initial reports state that Yang quit the position, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported the news by noting that Yang had a short trial run, but decided that producing “wasn’t for him.” Jimmy Wang Yang took to social media on Tuesday to debunk some details about that report and shared his side of the story, letting everyone know that he didn’t quit as a WWE producer:
“I don’t particularly appreciate seeing this narrative saying that I quit. It takes A LOT for me to quit anything. Almost a month ago, @WWE chose not to move forward with me being a producer, and I was perfectly fine with their decision. #idontthinkyouseenthelastofme,” Jimmy Wang Yang tweeted.
Hours later, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful backed up Jimmy Wang Yang’s tweet, confirming that WWE chose not to continue his tryout.
“Regarding Jimmy Wang Yang’s WWE departure from his producer tryout, WWE opted to not continue the tryout in that role several weeks ago,” Sean Ross Sapp tweeted.
