Cody Rhodes is at a crossroads in his professional wrestling career, but he says the story won’t play out how some fans think it might.
According to many AEW fans, newly crowned TNT Champion Cody Rhodes is in the process of potentially turning heel. However, ‘The American Nightmare’ says fans are in for quite the ‘bizarre ride’ when it comes to his on-screen character, as he explained during a promo on Episode 353 of former champion Sammy Guevara‘s latest vlog.
Cody Rhodes started by saying all of the things he was thankful for, which included his daughter, his wife, Arn Anderson and the new additions to his Masters of The Universe action figure collection. He then took a dig at Sammy Guevara before listing a few more things he was thankful for, including Diet Coke and his mom’s new pug, then closed by saying his story with Guevara wasn’t going down the road fans expect it to.
“I’m thankful to Sammy [Guevara], he said in an interview backstage that he would carry me and he did. He carried me for a moment, he carried me on his shoulders in kind of a torture rack type of position and turned it into a GTS maneuver, that’s his special thing, that’s his big finish and I kicked out. So, I am thankful to him for that, I’m thankful to The Nightmare Factory, we just had our most recent camp, I’m thankful to the Go-Big Show, which, new season coming out January 6 on TBS, it’s very good, check it out. I’m thankful for Rhodes To The Top, Ricky Starks, QT Marshall, Cody Vance for being on that show and if there’s a season two, I look forward to following their journey into the future.
“I’m thankful for me, for all of the sacrifices I’ve made and all the hard work that I’ve been doing, since I was 15, having literally never taken a day off, nepotism my ass. I’m thankful for Diet Coke, ya know at every party you’ve ever been to and people are just eating gluttonously and drinking and you have to sit there and sip Diet Coke and spit Twizzlers in a red Solo cup because you can’t actually consume them so you can look good with your shirt off. I’m thankful for those sacrifices that have put me into this position to have almost immeasurable wealth as a wrestler, dumb wealth, NFL-level wealth, as a wrestler.
“I am thankful for that because my mother told me that if I quit WWE, that I was screwed and hmmm…well, of course I’m thankful to my mother, she’s the greatest thing ever, I just got her a pug, I’m thankful for that pug, I’m really just thankful, for everything. I have no complaints, I’m thankful to the fans that cheer for me and I am thankful to the fans who boo me, because both sets of fans are ready to go on a ride that’s just bizarre and not…it’s not the path that you think, we’re not doing something that’s been done before. Yeah, I’m very thankful, I’m very thankful for all of the things in my life.”
