Sonya Deville Would Like To Face Becky Lynch, Praises Her Chemistry With Asuka

Sonya Deville has a few potential opponents in mind for her potential return to the ring.

In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, Sonya Deville spoke about a few of the WWE Superstars she’d like to face off with if given the chance.

“I’ve always said that I would love to face Becky Lynch because I just think the dichotomy of her character and my character would be so cool. There would be a lot of large energy in the room,” Deville said, “and I think that would be a really cool matchup.

“I haven’t had many televised moments with Asuka and we have great chemistry in the ring that’s really different, so I’d love to do something with her. Sasha Banks, I think her character is so evolved and so deep that I look forward to the day we can exchange words and also physicality,” Deville noted, “I think that story would write itself. So many that I’m leaving off the list, but those would be a couple of my favorites right now.”

Deville also spoke about her work as an authority character leading to something greater in the future, noting that there’s something planned in the future.

“What it’s going to lead to, this year of work and building is just going to lead to something bigger and greater in the ring when we get back there.”

Deville made her in-ring “return” during a two-on-one handicap match on the October 15 episode of SmackDown, teaming with Shayna Baszler to beat Naomi. Aside from that appearance, Deville has not wrestled since Mandy Rose defeated her in a “Loser Leaves WWE” match at SummerSlam 2020. She was scheduled to compete on the December 10 episode of SmackDown against Naomi, but the segment ended in a no contest.
