For Bron Breakker, his triumph at WWE NXT WarGames was just the beginning.
But just as his win alongside Team 2.0 on Sunday officially kicked off a new era for the brand, it firmly concluded the previous chapter, when stars like Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa made NXT into one of the most beloved products in all of wrestling for several years. With Gargano’s future up in the air, it’s quite possible that the face of the black-and-gold era won’t be around to see the 2.0 version continue to grow.
Given these circumstances, in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated after the WarGames event, Breakker praised “Johnny Wrestling”, both as a person and as a competitor.
“To be in a WarGames with Johnny Gargano, that means the world to me,” said Breakker. “Johnny is a fantastic performer, among the best in the world. He’s so great out there, as tough as nails. He’s gone out of his way to help and give me advice. He’s a fantastic human being and performer, and I can’t say enough good things about Johnny Gargano.”
Facing off with Gargano in such a high-profile match was quite a meaningful opportunity for Breakker, and he noted that he gave it his all in order to make the most of it. The second-generation star also made it clear that the best is yet to come after WWE NXT WarGames.
“It’s a night I’ve dreamed about for a long time,” said Breakker. “WarGames was an unbelievable opportunity, and I put absolutely everything I had into it.
“I want to be the best in the world, as I’m sure others do, as well. This is a very competitive sport, but I’m up for the challenge. Tonight was just the beginning.”
No matter what happens next, Breakker has been set up to succeed moving forward, and NXT’s veterans, such as Gargano, have certainly helped him along the way.
