WWE Champion Big E is firmly embracing his role as “the guy.”
With the prestigious WWE Championship around his waist, it’s fair to say that Big E is the face of the company; as a result, he has to fulfill numerous responsibilities, without even counting his in-ring duties.
During a recent appearance on On My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox, Big E noted that being the champion has produced a major change in his life because he’s always busy, but he emphasized his appreciation for the opportunities that are now available to him. He compared the title to a passport because it is allowing him to do things he previously only dreamed of. (Big E recently introduced Shawn Porter at a boxing match and appeared at an Iowa football game, among other examples.)
“It’s been cool man,” said Big E. “I didn’t know, I guess I didn’t think my life would change this much. And I kept kinda waiting for things to come back to some semblance of normalcy, but I don’t know if that’s a thing anymore, which has been great. It’s been fun, it’s very, very busy. Life is hectic, but in the best ways. And I think of, in many ways, the WWE Championship means many things but it’s also a passport for me in many ways, in the sense that now I’m able to walk through these doors that really didn’t exist for me before or maybe weren’t as readily available.
“The Powerhouse of Positivity ” made it clear that he’s having a “blast,” and he also explained that he enjoys being the guy who gets to send the fans home happy every night.
“I’ve been able to a lot of things that I just really love,” said Big E. “And then also from an in-ring perspective, is now I’m in this position of opening the shows. Man we were just in the UK and I leave those shows just incredibly grateful because now I’m the guy in the main events.
“We had street fights, it was me and Bobby Lashley in a street fight, you know, having these fun matches, closing the show. And now I’m the guy who grabs the mic at the end of the show to send people home happy. It’s so bizarre in the best way, but I love doing it. I really love doing it and I’ve treasured that role.”
Big E then stressed that he chooses to focus on the positive side of his role as the champion; while it’s a demanding job, there are plenty of beneficial aspects to it, so the WWE Champion wants to cherish “all the good” in the midst of this hectic time.
“I’m getting the opportunity to do all these things I never dreamed of because of this job,” said Big E. “So I try my best to focus on the positives of it. Because you know, there are, you can let the sleepless nights, you can let the long travel days, you can let that stuff build up and wear on you. But then you miss the good. You miss the beauty in what we do, so I’m just trying to treasure all the good that’s coming along with this added responsibility.”
As the WWE Champion, Big E continues to reign supreme on WWE RAW; he’s set to face Kevin Owens on the November 29 episode.
