The NXT Title may not have been on the line, but Tommaso Ciampa kept that champion’s mentality nonetheless. Ciampa took on Grayson Waller to kick off the 11/23 episode of WWE NXT 2.o, but not before Waller wailed about the fans disrespecting all the major stars throughout WWE’s recent history, including The Rock, John Cena and Roman Reigns. Grayson said how all those stars went to greater fame despite the fans “booing” them and Waller feels all he needs to do is follow suit. He proceeded to insult Ciampa, prompting “The Blackheart” to storm to the ring for their bout.
Ciampa dominated Waller early on, but Grayson showed his gusto for opportunity as he turned the tables on the champion. To nod back to his opening promo, Grayson tried to execute a People’s Elbow, but Ciampa made him pay by taking him to the outside.

Grayson Waller proved to be game for this opener as he took it right back to Ciampa, and he even scored a near fall after a leaping elbow. In the end, Ciampa ultimately got the clean victory when he hit a Fairy Tale Ending on the Australian star.
