Reggie wants to deviate from the path previous WWE 24/7 Champions have established. He aims to take the chase for the title, which often feels like the classic way Wile E. Coyote pursued the Road Runner, and turn it into a cartoon for kids.
In an interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling’s SP3, Reggie described this vision by noting that the possibilities with the title are endless. He also emphasized the way this animated series would specifically appeal to younger viewers.
“So I want to defend it in the ring,” said Reggie. “I also want to take this to different levels, you know. Like you said the Coyote [and] Road Runner, I think that’s exactly what it is right now. And how cool would that be, to have a WWE cartoon, 24/7 thing. That’s incredible, right? That gives like little kids something to watch as well, like in the cartoon section. So as far as me, I think this can go so many places. I would love to have legitimate matches with it.
“The sky’s the limit with this title. This title can legit live outside of the WWE universe, and it still holds all its prestige, like power and whatnot.”
For now, Reggie’s reign as the WWE 24/7 Champion is confined to the non-animated world, where he must fend off challengers on a regular basis. Reggie has defeended the gold in actual matches more than his predecessors, and he expressed his hope to have more “legitimate” matches as the champion. He named Ricochet as one of his dream matches while he was discussing how the former WWE United States Champion and EJ Nduka have helped him throughout his WWE journey.
“As far as like in-ring talent, I have my boy, EJ Nduka, just being my road dog throughout the whole pandemic, like getting better, preaching what we wanted and making it happen,” said Reggie. “Ricochet, been like a brother to me as well. Huge inspiration, huge mentor, most definitely dream match. We had a minute and a half of an in-ring competition and it was taken away from us so quickly. But those two guys right there have been like big supporters, huge guys for me.”
Time will tell what the future holds for Reggie and the WWE 24/7 Championship, but it’s clear that he’s aiming to have an unprecedented run with the title.
