Becky Lynch isn’t sure if she can bury the hatchet with Charlotte Flair, but she did what she set out to do at Survivor Series on Sunday night.
Becky Lynch delivered a tearful message from Lynch in a WWE Exclusive after winning at Survivor Series, explaining what the night meant to her amidst her issues with Charlotte Flair.
“Even watching the video packages, I got a little bit emotional, you know, because to see where we came from, to where we are now, and the hatred going out there, and it’s so sad, you know, like that’s somebody who I loved so much, who I trusted with my life,” said Lynch. “You know, and we’ve been through everything together, we nearly died in a car crash together. And just how much we despise each other now, I just wanted to rip her apart out there. I wanted to rip her apart. And I didn’t break her arm like I wanted to, like I set out to do. And I don’t know if I’m happy or I’m sad about that, but I got the win. And now she knows she can’t deny it, she can’t deny it —I’m the better woman.
Becky Lynch also spoke with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport after the match, noting that there’s no denying she proved she was the better woman on Sunday.
“I just did another interview there, and I was saying before we went out, I got very emotional that we went through, that we were the best of friends and we’ve been through everything together,” said Lynch. “And when I went out there, I just wanted to rip her head off. I just wanted to hurt her as much as I possibly could, and that’s a lot of emotion because I just wanted to maim her, I wanted to hurt her. And that’s somebody who I used to be so close to, and I talked to you before, and I told you about how this has gone so sour.
“And I don’t think it really hit me until tonight how sad that all is. We went out there and we killed each other, we hit each other as hard as we could. And we just wanted to hurt each other. And I told her, I told her I’m the better person and she can’t accept it. And so she’s gonna go cry to her dad, cry to everybody else, but there’s no denying it now. It started in Brooklyn and it ended in Brooklyn.”
Asked if the issues are done now, Lynch said she’s not sure. She said the whole week was difficult, but she is just glad she left with the win.
“When you’re going in with this much animosity, it’s so much stress. It’s so much stress. Because you have so much hatred, and carrying around that hatred, that’s hard for anybody. And knowing that there’s people out there that hate you as much as you hate her, as much as I hate her, and there’s a whole team, she’s got her fans, I’ve got my fans, but that’s a lot of hatred. That’s a lot of animosity and to carry that around for a full week, and then her dad’s coming at me, the whole thing, it was very stressful. And I’m trying to do all these appearances, trying to get my workouts in, but I was very distracted. I was very distracted the whole week.”
Despite winning, Becky Lynch isn’t sure she can put her issues with Charlotte aside and move on.
“Honestly I don’t know, I don’t know it’s possible, I don’t know that it’s possible,” said Lynch. “I think that it’s a good thing that we’re on different brands. I think let there be some time in between this. I just wonder, I don’t know that we can both be in the same business and be friends. I don’t think we can both be on top and be friends.”
