Former-IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay laid down a challenge to G1 Climax winner Kazuchika Okada, and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Shingo Takagi. Takagi & Okada are set to face off for Takagi’s title at Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 4th, and Ospreay, who vacated the world title due to injury last summer, wants to face the winner of that match on night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom 16, January 5th.

Okada seemingly accepted the challenge, promising “I will make it rain.” Shingo Takagi was on Japanese commentary for the event, and essentially dismissed both Ospreay and Okada. Ospreay, for carrying around a replica IWGP World Title, and Okada for bringing back the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
Kazuchika Okada defeated Kota Ibushi in October to win the 31st G1 Climax, and has since been carrying the title around, in lieu of a contract & briefcase, to represent his win. With three full nights of Wrestle Kingdom this year, on January 4th, 5th & 8th, the main event scene is continuing to take shape. WrestleZone will have more updates as things become official.
