Nia Jax has been released by WWE.
WWE made several cuts on Thursday, with Nia Jax being one of the names confirmed by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp as being released by the company. According to Sapp, budget cuts were cited as the reason for the releases in an email sent to talent by John Laurinaitis.
Nia Jax signed with WWE in 2014 and made her in-ring debut on an NXT live event on May 7, 2015. She made her main roster debut with the RAW brand on July 19, 2016. Jax is a former two-time Women’s Tag Team Champion (with Shayna Baszler) and won the RAW Women’s Championship on one occasion. Nia’s final match with the company came on September 20, a loss by referee’s decision to Baszler, her former tag team partner.
