The alliance of Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis lost their “way” against Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams due to a cheap shot in the main event of the 11/2 episode of WWE NXT.
The “A” team picked up the victory after Hayes, the North American Champion, confronted NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa. “The Blackheart” came out to address the Capitol Wrestling Center and to make it clear that he’s the “god” of NXT (in reference to his “God of War” paint at Halloween Havoc.) “Melo” interrupted Ciampa and stated that he is the “A” champion in NXT 2.0. Williams proceeded tohype up Hayes some more, and that earned him a strike from “The Sicilian Psychopath.” Ciampa also dared Hayes to “jump” if he was feeling “froggy”; in doing so, he seemingly hinted at a looming clash of champions.
"You want to prove yourself? You feelin' froggy? JUMP."

As Ciampa left the ring, his former DIY partner and rival Johnny Gargano shared a stare and grin with him before the main event bout began.
The crowd was very much behind Lumis and Gargano as they put on a hard-fought contest with Williams and Hayes. In the end, “Melo” scored the win after Williams capitalized on a distracted referee; he slugged Lumis with a loose boot and set Hayes up for a top rope Fame-Asser on Lumis for the three count.
