Mick Foley has seen Matt Cardona thrive as “The Deathmatch King” in Game Changer Wrestling, and this remarkable run has left the WWE Hall of Famer curous about a potential dream match between the two stars.
In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro.co.uk, “The Hardcore Legend” made it clear that he can’t actually do the match, but he’s fascinated by the heat Cardona would get from facing Cactus Jack.
“Oh, can you imagine the heat that Cardona would have if Cactus Jack came back for one last match?” said Foley. “I can’t do it – I’m just saying, imagine! That’d be great.”
Putting this hypothetical match aside, Foley had the chance to watch GCW Fight Club live and in person. There, he watched Cardona regain his Internet Championship and GCW World Champion Jon Moxley wage war for the title. Foley called this opportunity a “great experience” and praised the company for putting on a good show.
“There’s all different types of wrestling out there for all different types of fans, and then you find a product that caters to fans who really take their wrestling seriously – I tell you, GCW’s a great show!” said Foley.
“The Hardcore Legend” went on to say that the entire card was “solid to spectacular.” He weighed in on the brutal deathmatch between Mox and Gage by saying the two competitors took the “torch” from him and Terry Funk and ran with it.
“Mox versus Gage is gonna get the lion’s share of the attention, but the rest of the card was solid to spectacular,” said Foley. “There were a lot of risks being taken, but no one was going the death match route until the very end.
“Who am I to tell someone their style of wrestling is wrong? I had the type of stuff that I enjoyed watching. I can appreciate lucha [libre], for example, but it wasn’t what I wanted to do,’ he admitted. ‘I like the wild matches and these guys have taken that torch that Funk and I lit, and ran a couple of laps on their own with it.’
