The Good Brothers are looking forward to Bound For Glory, as well as all of the potential stories they can tell in the future with some more of their friends.
Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson, aka the Good Brothers, recently spoke with WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard ahead of their tag team title defense at Bound For Glory. Fans learned this week that the Good Brothers will defend their titles in a triple threat match against FinJuice (David Finlay and Juice Robinson) and Bullet Club’s Chris Bey and Hikuleo. Asked if they ever imagined they’d be fighting a faction they helped make famous, the pair explained that they didn’t pick this fight, but there is a lot of history and many stories to tell starting at Bound For Glory.
Gallows: “There’s such a long, rich history with the Bullet Club and it hasn’t lost steam. Here we are talking about it and involved in a match eight years later with something that Machine Gun [Karl Anderson] is a founding member of and I showed up a few months later. I think it’s an ever-going story with a lot more to do in IMPACT Wrestling or New Japan or AEW or wherever it may happen. With this proverbial forbidden door being opened, the possibilities are endless. So, you look at this Bound For Glory card, you have people representing NWA, people representing AEW, people representing New Japan Pro Wrestling and our strong core IMPACT Wrestling roster all together. It’s pretty cool that’s it’s all going to be highlighted on IMPACT Wrestling’s biggest stage, this Saturday night at Bound For Glory in front of a sold-out crowd.”
Anderson: “We didn’t start the beef with Bullet Club. We’re Bullet Club for life and one of the founding brothers just decided to go on Twitter and start shooting on us and trust me, that wasn’t planned. So, we didn’t expect it and this is a match, I don’t consider us feuding with the Bullet Club yet, if we ever ‘feud’ with the Bullet Club, it’s something that deserves a nice, long drawn-out story.”
The Good Brothers have a highly decorated career in professional wrestling, but still have plenty more they’d like to accomplish. After pointing out Anderson said “yet” about a feud, they were asked if rich stories like that are the new accolades they look for instead of just looking for marquee matches and title reigns. Anderson agreed and said they do talk about things like that, and noted that one example of a great story is headlining Bound For Glory this weekend.
Anderson: “Yes, for sure. Me and Gallows will sit in a room together when we get a chance to get on the road, and we’ll just talk. We’ve thought about this Bullet Club feud for a long time and how you can do it and the stories that can be told. There’s just such a fun build and even with me and Gallows, who knows — do we have a story where we break up? That’s the kind of stuff that gets our guts moving and gets us excited. Having great matches is all really cool and everything, but if there’s not a good story to it, sometimes I can’t get invested. A good story always [adds more], like at Bound For Glory with the Josh Alexander and Christian [Cage] story, Josh has been working hard to get where he’s at and now he’s going up against a legend like Christian, it’s getting me excited to watch this match.”
