It looks like WWE won’t host a December pay-per-view event in the traditional sense.
According to F4WOnline.com‘s Dave Meltzer, WWE will forgo hosting a customary pay-per-view in December. When asked by co-host Bryan Alvarez what was planned for WWE’s December PPV, Meltzer said “we don’t have one.”
Meltzer explained that there are no plans for WWE to host a pay-per-view in the month of December, as it was the original plan a few months ago. Despite not hosting a PPV in that calendar month, Meltzer said the new WWE Day 1 event, which is scheduled for January 1 in Atlanta, would in effect serve as the designated ‘December event’ instead. The Royal Rumble is also scheduled to take place on January 29, and that would still be considered as the ‘January pay-per-view’ on WWE’s internal event calendar.
In August, WWE originally announced its WWE pay-per-view event would take place in Chicago on December 12, but it was listed as “WWE PPV” and not as the traditional WWE TLC event. After some changes in the schedule, WWE will now go to Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 12 for a WWE Supershow as part of the Holiday Tour schedule. Chicago will still get a WWE event in December, but it has been changed to a WWE SmackDown taping on December 17 at the AllState Arena.
A previous unconfirmed report claimed WWE would instead move WWE TLC to December 19, but that appears to be incorrect as the company is hosting another Holiday Tour Supershow in Des Moines, Iowa on that same day. It is unclear what WWE plans on doing with the TLC event theme, which has been an annual PPV event since 2009.
