WWE has made many rounds of releases this year, and in late June, they released the former 205 Live tag team, The Bollywood Boyz. Their 90-day non-compete contracts are about to expire, and they look to make their return to professional wrestling this weekend with DEFY.
The Bollywood Boyz recently sat down with Denise Salcedo of The Sportster to discuss their time in WWE and what they plan to do next. When talking about their WWE release, The Bollywood Boyz surprisingly called it a relief:
“It was weird. Part of us felt relief,” Gurvinder Sihra said. We were lucky, we had a really good run, we got to work with so many legends, we literally traveled the world with WWE, a lot of guys just stay in Florida, but we were literally on the WWE full-time road schedule. We experienced it, we had some really cool moments. So when it happened, we were like ‘maybe we’ve done as much as we can in this,’ sometimes you just kinda become part of the furniture {laughs} you’re just kinda there and getting in that rut so we felt that maybe it was time to go spread our wings.”
There has been no shortage of interest in The Bollywood Boyz following their WWE release, which is an excellent thing for the duo:
“Right after the release happened we did have promotions from all over the world,” Sihra said. “Not only in North America but India for example, which is such a big market for wrestling, the Middle East, and the Philippines, all these promotions reaching out to us to bring us to their country.”
Despite all that, they have chosen to make DEFY Wrestling their home base, for the time being, making their in-ring return for the company on September 25 in Seattle:
“We’re excited, Defy is gonna be our home base and we’re very excited.”
