According to a new report, WWE is indeed gearing up for the return of the King of the Ring tournament in October.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that the company will be airing a King of the Ring preview special on FOX throughout the first weekend of October. Johnson notes that the program, which will preview the return of the tournament, will air in various timeslots depending on local markets.
WWE hasn’t held a King of the Ring tournament since 2019, when Baron Corbin defeated Chad Gable in the finals. The company has hinted at its return in recent months, and previous reports noted that it would be held in October. In August, the Mat Men Podcast’s Andrew Zarian reported that the finals of the tournament are set for the Crown Jewel event on October 21, so the bracket would play out across WWE RAW and SmackDown in the weeks beforehand.
Dating back to 1985, legendary names like Booker T, Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, and both Bret and Owen Hart, among others, have won the prestigious tournament.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
