Becky Lynch recently made her return at WWE SummerSlam, where she took down Bianca Belair to claim the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. But “The Man” recently revealed that her return could have happened as early as WrestleMania 37.
“I thought I was gonna be back by [WrestleMania 37],” Lynch said during a recent media event in the United Kingdom. “I was ready to come back by ‘Mania. But look, look who got the call at SummerSlam? I stayed ready. I stayed ready, I stayed ready because I’m a hero. I’m a hero to the people, a man of the people. I was, now they’re changing their mind on me. That’s on them. Anyway, I didn’t change. They changed.”
Lynch went on to say that one possibility for her comeback was to face Bayley, a fellow member of the Four Horsewomen, at “The Showcase of the Immortals.” Fans had been speculating about this bout around the time of the show, and “The Man” acknowledged that it had been on the table.
“That had been thrown around,” said Lynch.
Without Lynch in the fold, Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair headlined the show in an historic match, but many fans were hoping to see “The Man” return at the buzzworthy event. Still, Lynch eventually found her way back, and as the reigning SmackDown Women’s Champion, she has regained her place at the top of the women’s division.
