On the road to WWE SummerSlam, John Cena stole Finn Balor‘s shot at the WWE Universal Championship, and “The Prince” won’t forget this thievery any time soon. In fact, Balor has the perfect stage in mind of a potential showdown with the leader of the Cenation — WrestleMania, the grandest stage of them all.
In an interview with Liam Llewellyn of The Mirror, Balor explained that he and Cena will have to settle the score eventually, and facing the future Hall of Famer at “The Showcase of the Immortals” would make this dream even more special.
“I can’t think of a better place to face John Cena than at WrestleMania” said Balor. “I’ve got a bone to pick with John, the SummerSlam main event was mine, my name was printed on the contract, however, John signed it.
“There’s certainly an issue that needs to be settled between me and John and if we can do that at WrestleMania all the better.”
This potential clash probably won’t be happening in the short-term future; Cena, at least for now, has returned to Hollywood, leaving Balor to focus on his quest to regain the WWE Universal Championship, which is firmly in Roman Reigns’ grasp. With some plenty of help from The Usos, “The Tribal Chief” defeated Balor in his the challenger’s first shot. But the interference prompted Balor to revive his darker half, “The Demon”, setting the stage for a bitter battle for the title at WWE Extreme Rules.
In the interview, Balor teased that this rivalry is far from over by saying that this story has only just begun.
“I feel like this story has not reached its apex, we’re just starting and there’s a lot of unfinished business,” said Balor.
Time will tell what the future holds for Balor’s feud with Reigns and his potential bout with Cena.
