One of the biggest championship fights of the year will air on Vice TV.
According to The Wrap, MLW Fightland will air on Vice TV, making it the first-ever wrestling event to air on the network.
The event set for Saturday, October 2 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA is headlined by MLW World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu putting his title on the line against MLW National Champion Alexander Hammerstone in a Champion vs. Champion match. However, the event will air on Vice TV on Thursday, October 7 at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT following the network’s highest-rated wrestling-related show, ‘Dark Side Of The Ring’.
MLW CEO Court Bauer commented on the deal:
“MLW Fightland on Vice TV blows up the tired, old wrestling format. Everyone has played it safe in presenting wrestling the same way for 25 years. ‘MLW Fightland’ offers viewers a transparent, unfiltered all-access look into the smoke-filled arenas of wrestling. We will present big fights and big stories with investigative reports giving viewers a raw, inside look at the very real world of wrestling.”
Alongside the Champion vs. Champion main event, the one-hour special with also feature a four-way matchup for the MLW Middleweight Championship between champion Myron Reed as well as Tajiri, Aramis and Arez. MLW also confirmed Nicole Savoy vs. Holidead in a women’s featherweight bout will take place on the show. The updated event card can be seen below:
