A new day has dawned in WWE with Big E as the new WWE Champion.
During Monday’s edition of Monday Night RAW, Big E successfully cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase on Bobby Lashley to win the title after the latter’s victory over Randy Orton to retain the aforementioned title.
The new champion spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso about his title and touting it as being a ‘spiritual experience’.
“It was a spiritual experience. I connected with this massive group of people that all wanted the same thing. To have that support and the people behind me, it’s a moment I’ll never forget.”
Big E would explain that while the moment would’ve been special if it happened on SmackDown, it was even more important to share that moment with his New Day brethren, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods over on RAW.
“It still would have been meaningful if I had won the title on SmackDown, but to me, this was the way to do it. They had to be here. I don’t get here without them.”
In addition to Woods and Kofi, Big E also thanked a number of people that helped him along the way, including former Nexus member Michael Tarver and Curt Hawkins (aka Brian Myers), who gave him the move that helped him secure his new championship.
“I have to take my hat off to so many people who helped me along the way,” he says. “I think back to Michael Tarver, who would sit down with me in FCW when I was super green and didn’t know what I was doing. He helped me understand how to carry myself and connect with people in the ring. Curt Hawkins gave me the Big Ending. That’s been my finish for 12 years because of him. There are so many. Mike Doughty. And, of course, Kofi and Woods.”
