John Cena has a new appreciation for acting.
John Cena recently appeared on That Scene with Dan Patrick and spoke about his transition to acting, and how he now sees the similarities between the two. Cena said he used to think they were different, but can now say they are closer than you think.
“I used to think they were so different, and now looking at them in a different perspective, I think they’re very similar. Being able to certainly get into character and create a sense of realistic believability, like plausible reality, we both tell stories. I think its just a matter of the volume you tell the story. A lot of the stuff on the big screen, when you see everything on a big screen, like nuances mean the world. And in WWE, we were just in Allegiant Stadium and the third mezzanine is sold. I have to let that person what the hell’s going on,” Cena explained, “so you really do have to be broad with your reach and animated with your delivery.”
Asked about who the best actor in the ring is, Cena gave credit to none other than Vince McMahon. Cena said Vince gets it all, and he’s been able to turn it into the huge phenomenon that WWE has become.
“This is his thing and he took it from being a regional thing to National and then global. He gets it because he created it. So like the way he walks, the way he talks, you know. His run as the chairman in the middle of the Attitude Era and evil Vince, he’s made for it. And he gets it,” Cena stated. “He puts ego and self aside and goes out there and gives everything to it.”
Cena’s last WWE appearance (for now) was at SummerSlam, when he lost to Roman Reigns and got attacked by Brock Lesnar after the show. Cena spoke about Lesnar’s skills in the ring and praised him as one of the best ever.
“SummerSlam, the greatest sound to hear was certainly the interest. It’s that buzz before the bell rings, they want you guys to take you on this ride, this story. And then like surprises at the end, when Brock Lesnar came out and no one knew what the hell was going on. Those are really cool, when you can surprise the audience too,” Cena noted, “because those are so so very rare. I didn’t notice the ponytail, I noticed that he was the size of two Brock Lesnars, that’s pretty much…he looks mean and nasty, no matter what. And I just think he’s trying to stretch the boundaries of that and see what he can pull off. But he is an anomaly. He’s one of, if not the best ever.”
