For weeks, the wrestling world has been buzzing about Adam Cole‘s future, as his WWE contract was set to expire this weekend.
In an update, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that NXT TakeOver 36 will mark the end of Cole’s run in NXT.
“PWInsider.com has confirmed that tonight was indeed Adam Cole’s final appearance in WWE NXT,” wrote Johnson.
Additionally, Fightful Select reports that as of Sunday morning, sources indicated that the company hadn’t reached an agreement with Cole. While there have been pitches for Cole’s move to the main roster in recent weeks, he still hasn’t signed a new deal. It has been easy to predict that Cole will sign with All Elite Wrestling, but his next move remains unclear.
Cole’s contract initially expired in July, but he agreed to work through SummerSlam weekend. He reportedly met with Vince McMahon earlier this month, likely to discuss his future.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
