Flair’s history with the NWA is highly decorated, as he was a 10-time champion with the company. Despite WCW being sanctioned by the NWA for several years of its existence, Flair’s last appearance on an event promoted under the NWA name came on December 30, 1990 (a loss to then-NWA Champion Sting in Chicago). Flair has also wrestled multiple times in the city for WWF/E and WCW at various venues, but has not worked an event at the Chase Park Plaza Hotel (host of NWA 73 weekend) since he defeated Mando Barerra on a “Wrestling At The Chase” taping on February 6, 1983.
Flair has stayed busy since he obtained his release from WWE last month, including an appearance in Mexico at TripleMania last weekend. Flair was reportedly eligible to appear at the event due to his WWE release being free of the standard non-compete clause.
