John Cena and Roman Reigns have been going back and forth over the past couple of weeks, and during tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown, the two stars got very personal.
Cena kicked off the show by coming down to the ring and once again taunting Reigns. The leader of the “Cenation” said that he was going to give Reigns his report card, and gave him a D, for a below-average D, a “D-head”, a “D-bag”, and above anything else, a huge disappointment. Cena said that for ten years, WWE has been trying to sell fans Roman Reigns, but that no one was buying it. It was then time for “The Tribal Chief” to come out, and things got even more heated.

Reigns took to the microphone and wasted little time in saying that he expected something new from Cena, but he wasn’t shocked when Cena didn’t give it to him. The 16-time world champion then surprised the crowd by saying that he knows Reigns is going to “beat my ass” at SummerSlam, but that all Cena has to do is survive long enough to pin him to get his 17th world title. Reigns then said that he wasn’t going to spend time trying to bury Cena; instead, he admitted that he respects Cena, but that while “twenty years of missionary position” might be fine for him, it clearly wasn’t for the likes of his ex, Nikki Bella. Regns then declared that, at SummerSlam, he’s going to “smash” Cena to retain his title.

Cena laughed off the personal dig, but he did lay down some of his own insults of his own. Cena said that Reigns has always been protected by the WWE, and he was protected by The Shield. Cena argued that Reigns nearly ruined Seth Collins’ career and ran Dean Ambrose out of the WWE. Now, Cena says, he and his lackeys need to be “embarrassed,” which Cena says that he will do by hanging in the match and pinning Reigns. When he does, “The Tribal Chief” will become the greatest disappointment in WWE history.
