Mercedes Martinez is no longer with WWE. It was reported by Sean Ross Sapp on Twitter that the NXT star was one of the several releases that occurred on Friday, August 6. Martinez last competed on NXT when she tagged with Jake Atlas against Xia Li and Boa. This most recent run of Martinez was her second tenure with WWE. She was signed by the company back in January 2020. Previously, she competed in the Mae Young Classic in 2017, and she defeated Xia Li in the opening round. Shayna Baszler defeated Martinez in the semifinals.
Martinez later signed with WWE in January 2020, and she competed in the 2020 Women’s Royal Rumble match. She unsuccessfully challenged Raquel Gonzalez for the NXT Women’s Championship on the May 11 episode of WWE NXT.
